9WT

Been using Maxxon fly rods now for over a year and have loved their fly rods. Was looking forward to trying the Gorge 9WT and unfortunately it broke (section 3) fighting a 4LB fish. Upon closer inspection I noticed the feel and quality of the rod just felt off compared to other rods I’ve acquired from Maxxon. Because of that I won’t be ordering replacements as I’ll take this as a loss I guess.

Gorge 9’ 10 WT

I purchased this rod primarily for fishing sockeye in the kenai river. I can truly said it’s the perfect rod for handling big fish and the current at the same time. Very happy with the products this company produces.

Cannot go wrong with this

I have the Gorge in a 9ft 6wt with fighting butt and a Talon reel. This rod always goes on my boat when I go out fishing. It is light, has a soft tip and great backbone, and is very easy to cast. I love to fish riprap in the Mississippi river and this 6wt is my favorite rod to use there. Paired with the Prime Premium sink tip line, I can work the riprap very effectively and make just one water haul back cast and shoot out again to my next spot as I drift downriver.
The 6wt has enough backbone to use most of the flies and streamers I use with my 8wt. I caught my personal best largemouth bass of over 5lb with the 6wt rod and had absolutely no problem handling and landing the fish, even with most of the rod and all the guides covered in ice from the 26 degrees air temperature. I also got a northern pike in the low 30 inches with the 6wt and had a lot of fun landing it.

Ultimate light set up!! 4wt Rod / Talon I reel

What a set up!! on the advice of a very good fishing buddy, I picked up a light weight set up specifically for smaller streams and dry's. But who am i kidding I'm gonna tie on what ever i think is gonna get the fish. I went with the Gorge 4wt. 8'6" , Talon I reel and the 3wt. Prime premium with the 9' leader. i have to say it is my first time with such a light set up, but on the first cast I was hooked!! love this bit of kit.. it may be my new go to!! (kinda why I went with the 8'6" rod) Casting feel is so smooth the line slides through the eyes with such ease. the one thing i love the most about this set up is the Talon I reel. The silent return is so RAD!! and the drag is so easy to adjust the knob is the perfect size with a nice feel. This morning as I was practice casting in the back yard, i hooked into about a 18LB American short hair kitty.. who just absolutely loves to chase the flies... i was able to place my bait in just the rigth place for her to grab and stomp.. too much fun!! Thank you so much MAXXON!!

Amazing Rod with an Amazing Price Point!

The Maxxon Gorge was the first rod that I used from this company and I was hooked! This rod is super high quality for the very affordable price point of 100 dollars. I have this rod in a 9 foot 5 weight which is the perfect combo for any type of fishing! This rod has a nice soft tip with a stiffer main shaft allowing for the ability to shoot line far or delicately present flies in tight pockets. I have caught many fish on this rod and my cousin liked it so much that he also bought himself one! I highly recommend this rod to anyone from a beginner to an expert!
