Awesome rod combo great for beginners or experienced fisherman

Great First Rod!

This is a nice little starter combo that has made learning fun. The last thing you want while learning is your gear getting in the way, and I've had no problems with it!

The only thing I don't like is the reel clicks a little loud, but that makes no difference to a fish, so that's a me problem.

Unfortunately, I snapped the tip in a car door (100% my fault), and they promptly sent a replacement, no questions asked!

Good Rod, not so good reel

I received this combo as a birthday gift last year. The Rod was fantastic, easy casting, and you can use dry flies and smaller nymphs. The reel on the other hand was less than impressive. It was heavy which I didn’t mind, the real problem though is the part of the reel that sits in the reel seat started deteriorating over time. I can no longer use the reel in fear it will fall out of the seat. I’ve used other plastic fly reels and have never had this happen.

We would also like to look into the issue you are having with your reel 'deteriorating'. We have never seen, or heard of, this happen to any graphite-nylon product before, and would really like to get more detailed information regarding its condition.
