too tough for kings

I got a the new 10' 6" - #8 rod in Pulaski NY (salmon river sports shop), and it performs flawlessly. Coupled with the XMX reel, large Steelheads, Browns and 20lb+ Kings have meet their match. The length is absolutely perfect; it gives you the strength needed to land these fish, yet giving you the enjoyment of the fight that you will have when hooking a large Salmon/Trout. Casting is effortless and accurate.

Great rod, great value

I have never fished with a 9wt rod before. I was curious how it fishes and because of the low price of this rod, I decided to purchase the Falcon rod and give it a try. This is a 2-piece rod which I have never used before. I received the rod last week and could not wait to take it out musky fishing on the weekend so I decided to take the 9wt bass fishing during the week. I know a 9wt is an overkill for most bass but I just wanted to get on the water to test it. I was very pleased how easy it was to cast and handle bigger bass. It is not an 8wt but still as easy to cast as my 8wt rods. This rod is very light and well balanced. I took the 9wt on a musky trip over the weekend and even though I did not get any fish on it, I really enjoyed fishing with it. I also used the 10wt Falcon over the weekend. I had other 10wt rods with me but decided to use the Falcon for most of the day and was rewarded 2 muskies. I was very pleased how the Falcon handled the fish. It has lots of power and backbone and when the fish realized they were hooked, I had no problem controlling the fish.
During the few days fishing with the Falcon rods, I used Prime Premium SINK TIP Type-4 line and the 350gr RAPID SINK Prime line with floating running line. I was very surprised how easy it was to cast both the 9wt and 10wt rods with the heavier 350gr line.
This Falcon rod is a great rod for the price. It surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend it for both beginners and long-time fly-fishing folks.

Another great rod

This is a great rod for someone who does both fresh and saltwater fishing. The rod has great action. I have dumped this rod in saltwater multiple times and I haven't seen corrosion on the guides at all! This rod casts like a dream in open areas and in tight situations!
